Welcome to Rudders Boatyard

Based in Burton on the Milford Haven Waterway in Pembrokeshire. Rudders Boatyard is a family-run boatyard offering boat storage, launching, repairs, and moorings.

Our site is also home to Rudders Marine Training, an RYA-recognised training centre. We run practical courses including Powerboat Level 2, VHF Radio, First Aid, and Diesel Engine Maintenance. Together, we provide a complete boating experience, from maintaining and storing your vessel to helping you build the skills and confidence to enjoy time on the water safely.

Services

Deepwater swinging moorings

We have moorings in place suitable for vessels up to 50ft.
Deepwater swinging moorings consist of a buoy attached to a heavy chain or rope, allowing boats to swing freely with the tide and wind.

Storage ashore

We can store any vessel ashore from small tenders & trailer boats to 36ft yachts or motorboats – anything up to about 10 tons in total.

Large Workshed

We have a work shed large enough to fit most yachts within our lifting capability (de-masted) – this is available to rent for any short term periods where you need a controlled atmosphere .

Launch Service

Leave the hard work to us and join our launching service, a 6 month summer contract including use of our facilities and unlimited launch & recovery.

Workshop fitting, repair & maintenance services

Our experienced team can complete a range of work from general advice to engineering, boatbuilding and complex repairs.

Our Location

We’re located third on the right off Church Road in Burton, less than a mile upstream from Neyland Marina, the Jolly Sailor pub, and the Cleddau Bridge.

The bridge offers a safe clearance of 36 meters (118 ft) at high tide, and there is consistently deep water from the estuary’s mouth all the way to our sheltered location.

Cleddau Estuary Pembrokeshire

In a beautiful, quiet and picturesque countryside location. We can be found six miles upstream on the Milford Haven Waterway.

The Coastline

The Haven offers some 26 miles of navigable waters, making it the perfect base for exploring local pubs, beaches, and stunning scenery.

Rudders Boatyard is conveniently located just upstream of the Cleddau Bridge—far enough upriver to be surrounded by national parks and abundant wildlife, yet with plenty of depth for most vessels. As a friendly, family-run yard, our experienced team is here to assist with everything from general boating advice to complex repairs. We are also proud to host a popular RYA training centre – Rudders Marine Training.

Beyond the Haven lies a spectacular coastline dotted with beautiful islands and wildlife-rich beaches. Just a short journey westward takes you to the West Country or Ireland, making this area a true paradise for sailors and powerboaters alike.
